The Story Of How Falling Pine Began and Is going..

Falling Pine Bulldogges was founded by Keane, who has spent her entire life surrounded by animals, especially dogs. Growing up, Keane was immersed in a world of breeding and training, as both of her parents were well-established in the animal world. Her father bred field Labradors and trained various hunting breeds, while her mother, a former Vet Assistant, partnered with him to raise Rottweilers and Labs. Though their breeding program eventually took a pause as they started a family, their love for dogs never waned. In 2009, the family welcomed their first Pug, and over the next few years, they added more. It was during this time that Keane first learned the intricacies of caring for brachycephalic breeds, which would later shape her own breeding philosophy. Throughout her childhood, Keane worked alongside her parents to maintain their dogs, their breeding program, and their social media presence, gaining invaluable experience that would prove instrumental in her own journey. Keane married Damien in April 2022, and together, they embarked on the journey of raising Olde English Bulldogges. Damien shares Keane's passion for dogs on a deep level and, together, they are working to create a new bloodline of Bulldogges that Canada has never seen before—one that stands out for its quality, health, and temperament. Keane's first encounter with the Olde English Bulldogge came through a family member's dog, a black tri-colored OEB that, unfortunately, came from a breeder who did not meet her standards. This dog's health issues and conformation flaws led Keane to care for him and ultimately place him in a pet-only home. Despite these challenges, the experience made Keane fall in love with the breed. From this, she gained a keen understanding of what to look for in a quality breeder and dog—a dog with the right conformation, health, and temperament. In early 2018, as a gesture of gratitude for her years of dedication to their own kennel, Keane’s parents gifted her an Olde English Bulldogge, Blondie. Blondie was the perfect fit, and from the moment Keane laid eyes on her, she knew she had found something special and became the foundation female of Falling Pine Bulldogges. The bond they share is unbreakable, and Keane feels deeply grateful for Blondie’s health, temperament, and conformation, which have exceeded her expectations. In December 2019, Falling Pine Bulldogges produced its first litter of registered Olde English Bulldogges. This milestone marked the beginning of Keane’s journey as a breeder of this incredible breed. Since then, Falling Pine Bulldogges has remained dedicated to producing genetically sound, high-quality dogs. Our reputation for excellence has caught the attention of breeders across Canada, the United States, the UK, and the Netherlands. We strive to follow the true standard of the breed—emphasizing functionality, capability, and appearance—while ensuring that each dog is healthy and a great fit for their new homes. In the fall of 2022, we took a significant step forward by relocating to a farm in Smoky Lake County. This new setting provides our dogs with plenty of space to roam, run, and play, fostering their physical and mental well-being. Along with the move, we obtained the necessary permit to breed in early 2024, ensuring that we are fully compliant with local regulations and further establishing our commitment to ethical breeding practices. At Falling Pine Bulldogges, we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of breeding, which is why we don't breed our females until they are at least 2 years old. We believe in giving our dogs proper time to mature, ensuring their health and well-being before they have a litter. Additionally, we prefer to give our females breaks in between litters to allow them time to recover and maintain their own health. We also prefer to keep our program small, as it allows us to focus on the quality of the dogs we produce rather than quantity. This approach encourages us to carefully select the best dogs for our program and maintain a high standard in every aspect of breeding. Sometimes, this means we keep puppies for extended periods to evaluate their health, temperament, and conformation. If a puppy doesn't meet our high standards, we make the difficult decision to rehome them as pets, ensuring they find loving homes where they can thrive. While we work hard to improve the breed with each generation, it's important to acknowledge that sometimes health issues can still arise, particularly from past generations. Despite our rigorous health testing and careful breeding practices, some inherited conditions may appear. We take this seriously and continue to educate ourselves, always striving to produce the healthiest, most well-rounded dogs possible. What truly sets us apart from backyard breeders is our commitment to health testing and breeding to the true standard of the Olde English Bulldogge. We focus on producing dogs that are not only structurally sound but also genetically healthy, with a strong emphasis on responsible breeding practices. Our dogs undergo rigorous health screenings, including joint evaluations and genetic testing, ensuring they meet the highest standards of health and temperament. At Falling Pine Bulldogges, we are committed to supporting our puppy owners with education and guidance. We want each family to feel confident in the care and training of their new companion. Our goal is not just to breed dogs but to breed dogs that improve the breed—making a positive impact on the Olde English Bulldogge community for years to come.
